Dessert Collection

Because of the abundance of delicious fresh fruit grown in India, it is more usual to finish a meal with a piece of fresh mango, banana or melon, depending on the season. However, Indians are famous for having an incredibly sweet tooth and have devised sweets and desserts, often milk-based, to satisfy their sugar cravings.

Desserts are not really made or served every day but are reserved for special occasions such as religious festivals or weddings. Diwali is just such an occasion and is certainly a time when you would offer sweets, often decorated with edible gold or silver leaf.
